CMD WHBPC 2012 Champions

Our good friends Call me Daddy from France, have just added to their recent European Bike Polo Champions title by now becoming the World Champions too.

They beat The Guardian’s from Seattle, 4-2 in a 15 minute final, held in Geneva.

Well done guys!

Also a massive big up to The Guardians for finishing 2nd best and entertaining all weekend with clean and stylish bike polo – great to see.

Clobber Polotics from Chicago took 3rd and Dead Rappers, our home town friends, took a very respectable 4th.

WHBPC 2012 Courts

Here’s a picture showing the location for this years World Champs being held in Geneva.

It’s actually the same location as to where the Euro Champs back in 2010 was hosted. However, this year the courts are set be better made (wooden side walls), a lot larger and surrounded with more grand stand seating – can’t wait!

Seeing this picture does bring back so many amazing memories of the Euro’s 2010. It really was the first time the Euro scene felt like it came together.

Cosmic3 finished 2nd that year, after an epic 30 minute final losing 5-4 to L’Equipe, played out on the court shown furthest to the right in this picture.

If the Worlds this year can exceed the Euro’s of 2010, we are in for an amazing tournament.

WHBPC 2011 Final

Last weekend it was the world hardcourt bike polo championships in Seattle – the mother land of bike polo.

Unfortunately we couldn’t make it out there despite qualifying…but some of our Euro friends did and hell they showed the rest of the world what Europe’s got.

With 3 EU teams finishing in the top 5 and an absolute epic performance by French champions Call Me Daddy to take 2nd, making all those at home watching the live stream feel ever so proud – although the results  also made us wished we’d gone out there even more.

The polo world order is definately changing. Polo has only been played seriously in Europe for the past 3 years, yet already it’s  taking a place at the top. This is only going to improve in the years to come and with the Worlds in Europe next year I’m predicting a home win!

Big pat on the back to East Van for taking this years crown, but massive congrats to Call Me Daddy, Iron Ponies, L’Equipe, DTGP, Polosynthese and Money Punch for repping EU hard.
