On searching my polo picture archive folder recently, I came across these pictures of Cosmic standing next to two legendary Polo teams…
Whilst travelling through New Zealand, I was fortunate to not only play in the Australasian Bike Polo Champs but also hit up a few city scenes too.
Bike polo is fast growing in New Zealand, with new scenes popping up all over the country. And hopefully for the first time, we’ll be seeing a team from NZ (Christchurch to be exact) attend this years Worlds in Florida, having qualified via the Australasian Champs.
I hope the growth of polo continues in NZ.
Below are some photo’s taken during my visits to Wellington, Taupo and Auckland.
I always find it interesting to see how each scene (where ever it is in the world) handles their court situation. Wellington’s was definitely one of the more unique courts I’ve played on and the guys in Taupo had an awesome fold up court that they packed away and stored after each session – very resourceful.
Big thanks to all those in NZ who made me feel welcome to play and hang out in their scenes.
We had the best time hanging with Ollie, who in true local style, took us to all the best spots for food, drink (beer and coffee) and sight seeing. I also got to play heaps of Bike Polo with Ollie and the strong emerging scene. Again, big thanks guys.
But if you know Ollie, you also know he’s got a lot to say about life and of course bike polo. Therefore, who better to sit down with over a good coffee and talk all things bike polo…
Whilst driving through the small village of Hari Hari in the South Island of New Zealand, I came across an abandoned tennis court.
It was perfect for a solo polo session. I just had to improvise with some dinner bowls for goal posts…
